Question: Why should I have the brake fluid changed when my vehicle’s brakes work fine?

Answer: Brake fluid is hygroscopic which means it attracts moisture like a sponge. This contamination lowers the boiling point, reducing brake performance and causes corrosion. The corrosion ruins the internal parts of a brake system causing expensive brake repairs and also may lead to brake failure. Honda recommend this be done every 45k miles especially if the system has an anti-lock brake system.

Recommended brake fluid replacment is every 45000 miles
